Opal Whitney, 2619 S. Prairie, departed this life Feb. 6, 1984, at Parkview Episcopal Hospital. A longtime Pueblo resident, she was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Atkins, Ark. She had been employed at Dincler's Fabrics and Four Seasons Nursing Home. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ruby Whitney, 1952; two sons, Walter and Jessie Whitney, 1959; father, Jesse Brown, 1977; stepfather, Ulmon Andrews, 1981. She is survived by her husband, Walter Whitney, Pueblo; sister-in-law, Areather Wilson, Pueblo; mother, Virginia Andrews, Michigan; two sons, Gus Whitney, Denver, and daughters Mrs. Delores (James) Sanford and Charlotte Whitney, Pueblo, Ola Whitney, Denver, Virginia Whitney, Virginia, Mrs. Annette (Vernon) Walker, Germany, Mrs. Sharon (Roland) Ferdinand, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services, 11 a.m. Saturday, Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Rev. F.L. Chandler officiating. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends 2619 S. Prairie and 3903 Brookfield.
