William Joshua Whitney, 78, of Richfield died of a heart ailment in St. Mary's hospital in Quincy at 1:30 Wednesday morning. He entered the hospital Monday afternoon. Mr. Whitney was a retired laborer and construction worker and had lived in or near Richfield all his life.
He was born in Richfield township June 25, 1881, the son of Joseph and Lucinda George Whitney. He was married to Miss Sadie Dearen May 13, 1908 at Hannibal, Mo. She preceded him April 21, 1951.
Surviving are two sons, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Two sons, one sister and three brothers also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Frey Funeral home in Liberty and at 2 in the Richfield Methodist church. Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery near Richfield.
