Born June 2, 1923 in Odum, Mrs. Whitney was the daughter of John Henry and Janie Newton Rawlins. A retired clerk with United Telephone of Florida, she had lived in Ocala since 1964, moving from Miami. She was a member of the Pioneers of United Telephone.
Survivors include her husband, Mac Whitney, Ocala, FL; two daughters: Francine Grimsley of Albany, and Jean Allen, Hawkinsville; her mother, Janie N. Rawlins, Ocilla; and a brother, Norman Rawlins of Ocilla; Five grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
