Victor H. White, 83, of Winterset died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Victor has been cremated and a private family graveside will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni at a later date. Memorials may be made to West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation.

Victor Herbert White was born March 11, 1929 in Lamoni, Iowa; the son of Edward Dewey and Lillian Ree (Lesan) White. He graduated from Lamoni High School and later married Ardis Mae Roberts on January 17, 1945. They moved to Des Moines where they raised their family, retired and moved back to Lamoni. They later moved to Winterset to live closer to their two daughters.

Victor worked as a printer his entire career, first with Wallace Homestead and then for the Register and Tribune. He worked 32 years with Equitable Life Insurance Company of Iowa in their print shop, retiring as print shop foreman in 1987. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club at Equitable and various other printing affiliations.

He was member of the Community Christ Church in Creston, the Winterset Gun Club and had been active in Lions when he was younger. Victor loved hunting, fishing and reading. He also enjoyed woodworking and collecting stamps and coins.

Victor was also a great musician having a natural ability to play the French horn. Because of this talent, he was offered a position with the Minneapolis Symphony.

He is survived by his children, Mike (Chery) White of Anchorage, AK, Lynn (Dwight) Honnold of Lorimor, and Melody (Jim) Mumford of Winterset; 7 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ardis who died July 19, 2012 and two sisters, Melba Abel and Roberta Petrovich.
