Gottlieb Welsch, 85, died Friday evening at Fair Hills Home, Rosecrans, where
he had been a resident eight years.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Imanuel Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. T. F. Uetzmann will officiate and burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Welsch was born Aug. 17, 1881, in Russia, son of the late Henry and Margaret
Schweigert Welsch. He came to the United States in 1912 and located in the
Sheboygan area. He married Katherine Miller in 1924 at Waukegan, Ill. He was a
shoemaker by trade and operated a shoe repair store at Manitowoc for six years.
Then he operated a farm in the Town of Gibson, Manitowoc County, for 10 years.
Following that he was employed at Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry, Manitowoc, until
his retirement in 1951. From 1951 to 1958 he lived at Sheboygan with his daughter,
Mrs. William Eichmann. He moved to Fair Hills in 1958. He is survived by a son,
Henry (Jack), of Manitowoc, a daughter, Mrs. Eichmann, and seven grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death in 1936. A son, Edward, died in Korea in 1950. A
daughter also preceded him in death..
Friends may call at Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m. Monday until
11 a.m. Tuesday and at the church until the hour of service.
