George J. (Curly) Wellner, 78, of 720 S. 21st St., Manitowoc, died Monday
morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church
Chapel, Manitowoc. The Rev. Vernon Anderson will officiate and burial will
be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Wellner was born Oct. 5, 1889, at Manitowoc, son of the late George B. and
Louis Kasten Wellner. He was employed as a ship fitter at Manitowoc Shipbuilding
Inc., for more than 53 years, retiring Feb. 27, 1963. Mr. Wellner was a member
of Boilermakers Local 443.
Survivors include a sister, Miss Mabel Wellner, of Manitowoc and nieces and
nephews. Five brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m.
Tuesday until noon Wednesday and then at the church.
