Richard "Bones" Welch, 45, of Winterset, died Friday, May 23, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Friday, May 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Stuart.

Richard was born on January 1, 1969, at Des Moines, Iowa to Larry and Nancy (Brunsman) Welch. Bones had been working at Watters Autoland in Indianola since 1988. He was avid worker at various auto racetracks around the state, always working the third corner.

Richard is survived by his mother, Nancy Welch of Winterset; sister, Kimberly Welch of Olathe, KS; grandmother, Maxine Brunsman of Winterset; and niece, Olivia Rose Lowe.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
