David A. Weeks, 55, of Urbandale lost his battle with cancer on July 27, 2015. David was born on January 14, 1960, to Lyle and Katherene (Brocker) Weeks of Indianola. David grew up on the family farm and graduated from Southeast Warren in 1978. He was an outstanding athlete lettering in basketball, track and baseball.

David accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on December 24, 1984, and began attending Des Moines First Assembly of God. There, he met and married Cindy McDonald of Winterset, Iowa, on July 18, 1987. David and Cindy were blessed with two children, Andrew, in January 1990; followed by Hannah in March 1992. David also served on the deacon board and ministered in the choir at Des Moines First.

After high school, David worked at Windsor Windows and Frye Copysystems before receiving a degree in accounting and computer programming from AIB in 1987. He then worked as a computer programmer at EMC Insurance and Principal Financial. In 1995, he started his own home inspection business, All American Home Inspection, which allowed him the freedom to spend more time with his family and more recently enjoy his favorite pastime of golf.

David was an avid Cubs fan. Many a family vacation was scheduled around a trip to the ballpark where the Cubs were playing including Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Denver and San Diego. A few months ago, he also enjoyed a trip to Dallas to see the Cowboys play.

David will always be remembered by family, friends and co-workers as the guy with the memorable laugh and wonderful smile. He will also be remembered for his competitive spirit on the golf course, softball field and bowling alley.

David is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Andrew of Des Moines, and Hannah of Omaha; his parents, Lyle and Katherene, brothers Ron and Randy and sister Rhonda of Indianola; his nephew, Ryan (Julie), and their children of Des Moines; his mother-in-law, Jean McDonald of Winterset.
