Amon Wallace was the second of three children born to Jonathan and Mary E. Conaway Wallace in Rush Co., IN. His sisters were Edith Annie Amelia S. Wallace and Rebecca Elizabeth C. Wallace.

Amon Wallace married Lorinda Collins on 6 Feb 1868 in Madison Co., IA. They were the parents of the following children all born Iowa:
1. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Wallace b. 1870 d. as a child.
2. Carrie Jessie May Wallace b. 1871 d. 1965
3. Alonzo "Lonnie" Wallace b. 1874 d. 1959
4. James "Jim" S. Wallace b. 1877 d. 1912
5. Joseph "Joe" Amon Wallace b. 1879 d. 1948

Mr. Wallace was a native of Indiana and was a resident of Sioux City for many years. He held the position of deputy sheriff under Jon and Dan McDonald. He was a man of quiet habits and a painstaking and successful official. He leaves a family consisting of the widow, three sons and one daughter to mourn his loss. The funeral will be held at the family residence, 423 Lafeyette street, at 2:30 this afternoon: Friend of the family are requested to attend.
