IMMANUEL VOLZ

Immanuel A. Volz, 77, of 2424 S. 18th St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 28, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Larry Ellenberger will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Volz was born Sept. 18, 1906, at Frankenbazh, Heilbronn, Germany, son of the late Herman and Frieda Rucker Volz. He came to the United States on Dec. 23, 1928, to Chicago. He married Anna Hessert Jan. 7, 1929, at Chicago. On Jan. 15, 1929, the couple moved to Manitowoc. Mr. Volz worked for 37 years for the Manitowoc Board of Education, retiring in 1971 as a supply manager. He was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church where he had previously served on the church council and also was a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debora and Kenneth Benfield of Manitowoc and Swanhild and David Tess of Brookfield, Wis.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frederick and Elsie Bolz and Samuel and Martha Volz of Germany; two sisters, Miss Hulda Volz and Mrs. Johanna Bareis of Germany; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday after 8:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of arrangements.
