Lumberman A. Voigt, Dies
VALDERS-August H. Voigt, 82, owner and operator of A.H. Voigt Lumber Co. for
40 years, died Sunday morning at Maple Crest Nursing Home, Maple Grove.
Voigt had been in the lumber and elevator business over 60 years, having operated
a business at Potter before taking over the Valders business 40 years ago. For
the past 10 years he had been in semi-retirement.
Voigt was born April 4, 1882, in the Town of Schleswig, son of Fred and Dorothea
Blievernicht Voigt. He married the former Clara Kasper July 4, 1905, at Potter.
He was a former treasurer of Grace Lutheran Church, Valders, and a former director
of Valders State Bank.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Lester, of Valders, a sister, Mrs. Alma Schmidt,
of Sheboygan and two grandchildren. Twin daughters, five brothers and a sister
preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev.
Paul Hensel will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Friends may call at Farley Funeral Home, Valders, after 3 p.m. Tuesday until 11:30
a.m. Wednesday and then at the church.
