RACINE - Violet A. (nee: Boyles) Vilhauer, 94, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2001, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center.

Violet was born in Drake, N.D. on October 17, 1906, daughter of the late Alfred and Clara (nee: Johnson) Boyles. On June 10, 1936, in Tyndall, S.D. she was united in marriage to Arthur R. Vilhauer, who preceded her in death, February 11, 1973.

Violet was an Elementary School Teacher, who taught in a little one room country school in Bon Homme County, S.D. for many years. While residing in South Dakota she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and also taught Sunday School. In 1992 she moved to Racine to be near her family. She was a member St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Racine. Violet loved playing bridge and was a master of beautiful stitchery. Violet was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Kay (Mearl) Mahl of Racine; her grandchildren, Timothy Mahl of Chicago, Ill., Cindy (Ralph) Rhein, Victoria (Curt) Vollman, all of Racine; her great-grandchildren, Claudia Rhein and Teddy Vollman; her sister, Irma Thompson of Crystal Lake, Ill., her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Vilhauer of Oceanside, Calif.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by her brother, Meigs Boyles; and sister, Ethelyn Stevens and Zelma Walkling.

Funeral service will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1015 Four Mile Road, Tuesday, September 11, 2001, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mary Vance-Welsh officiating. Interment will be held at Tyndall Cemetery, Tyndall, S.D. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial to St. Andrew Lutheran Church or to one's favorite charity have been suggested.
