MRS. VETTING DIES TUESDAY
Widow of Pioneer Laundry Operator Was 78
Mrs. Sarah Vetting, 78, widow of the late Albert Vetting, pioneer Manitowoc
laundry opertor, died Sunday of complications at her home, 927 South 14th
street, and was removed to the hospital where her condition became critical
Monday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. from the Pfeffer funeral home in
charge of the Rev. A.W. Barnlund of St. Paul's M.E. church, of which the
deceased was a devout member. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Sarah Curran, was born in Manchester,
England, in 1855 and came to this country with her parents as a child. The
family settled at Mount Vernon, Ohio where she grew to womanhood and was
married there to Frank Downs. On the death of her husband she came to
Manitowoc and was married here in February, 1911 to Albert Vetting, prop-
ietor of a laundry here. He died several years ago.
Four sisters Mrs. Elizabeth Tuesberg, city, Mrs. Julius Kusser, Sandusky,
Ohio, Mrs. Margaret Stokes, Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Mrs. Rufus Kingsbury,
Akron, Ohio, and one brother, Thomas Curran of Toledo, Ohio, survive.
In addition to her membership in the St. Paul's M.E. church Mrs. Vetting
was a member of the Dorcas society and the Women's Foreign Missionary
society of the church.
The remains may be viewed up to the hour of the funeral at the Pfeffer
funeral home.
