Robert J. Van Haren, age 92, of 628 Woodlawn, Dr., Manitowoc, died
Monday afternoon, July 5, 1999, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center,
Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 1999,
at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church,
Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev.
Ronald Reimer and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born December 19, 1906, at Oconto Falls, Wis., son of the late
John and Christine Van Lieshout Van Haren. On April 21, 1941, he married
the former Adeline Junk, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
Robert was employed for 46 years, many of them with the position of
foremen at Aluminum Specialty Company of Manitowoc. He was a member of
St. Paul Catholic Church since 1925, and was a long time member of the
Knights of Columbus Council #710, and St. Paul Catholic Church Holy Name
Society. Robert also enjoyed working with the Billy Schultz Circus in
the 1930's and 1940's as an acrobat and clown. Robert became a bicycle
enthusiast following his retirement, logging over 40,000 miles
throughout the State of Wisconsin.
Survivors include his wife, Adeline, Manitowoc; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Clyde and Sue Van Haren, Green Bay, Jerry and Landy
Van Haren, Manitowoc; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janice and Tom
Hallett, Colgate, Wis., Mary Gee, Franklin, Wis.; seven grandchildren,
Pam (Eric) Olson, Julie (Ken) Anderson, Brian Haese, Laura (Randy)
Tupper, Krista Van Haren, Casey and Tammy Gee; five great grandchildren,
Collin and Laken Anderson, Clay Olson, Christian and Alex Tupper; one
brother and two sisters-in-law, Chet and Gladys, Van Haren, Florida,
Tiny Van Haren, Oconto Falls; one sister, Edith Gilbert, Manitowoc; one
brother-in-law, George Konitzer, Oconto Falls; three brothers-in-law,
and sisters-in-law, Arnold and Helen Junk, Lloyd and Ruth Junk, Earl and
Jeanette Junk, all of Manitowoc; five sisters-in-law, and two
brothers-in-law, Mildred and Clarence Kocourek, Manitowoc, Irene Junk,
Manitowoc, Jane Junk Carpenter, Arizona, Emily Junk, Manitowoc, Sharon
Junk Schench, Manitowoc, Ethelyn and Dale Bolle, Reifs Mills. Also
surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was
preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Edward and
Felicia Van Haren, Ben and Gladys Van Haren, Lawrence and Grace Van
Haren, Clarence Van Haren, and four sisters and three brothers-in-law,
Mary and Peter Borst, Louise and Ralph Dickman, Dorothy and Hubert
Curran, and Irene Konitzer.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral
Home, Manitowoc, from 5-8 p.m. this Wednesday (TONIGHT) where a prayer
service will be held at 7 p.m. led by Deacon William Klein.
