William Turnbull, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in Tulsa at the age of 87. He was born September 15, 1927 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to John and Nellie (Tate) Turnbull. William graduated from St. Michael's High School in Henryetta and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country during World War II. He worked for many years at American St. Gobain and later at Ramsey Chevrolet in the parts department. William was a Square Dance Caller for many years and had a great knowledge of sports. He moved to Haskell where he had resided for many years prior to returning to Okmulgee recently. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where over the years he had been very active in the parish. William was very proud of his Scottish heritage. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lou Turnbull, three brothers, James, John and Alfred Turnbull and a sister, Dorothy Shaffer.
Survivors include his children, Jeanette Taylor and husband Mike, Cynthia Turnbull and David Turnbull and wife Sue, all of Okmulgee, grandsons, Trey Turnbull and David Turnbull, both of Okmulgee and Brent Taylor of New York and a great grandchild, Stormy Turnbull. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 22, 2015 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Josh Litwack officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
