The former Arlene Plimpton was born on April 22, 1924, in Mt. Hope, daughter
of the late Clarence and Cleora (Fivecoats) Plimpton. She was a graduate of
Mt. Hope High School in 1942, and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 1946.
She taught at Washington Jr. High School in Manitowoc from 1947 until 1949. On
April 13, 1949, she was married to Frank B. Turgasen in Berlin. He preceded her
in death on Oct. 31, 1993. Arlene was a very gifted athlete, playing semi-pro
softball in Chicago, Ill., with the Chicago Chicks. In the past, she belonged
to the Manitowoc Curling Club, traveling all over the world in curling events.
She was a very gifted golfer, being club champion of the Manitowoc Elks Ladies'
Golf League 10 times. She was a member of First Lutheran Church; Manitowoc
Senior Citizens; Manitowoc Historical Society; Habitat for Humanity; Wisconsin
Maritime Museum; Rahr-West Museum; National Railroad Museum; Manitowoc Public
Library; and the Manitowoc Elks Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Frank; and one brother-
in-law: Lawrence Presnell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008, at the Jens
Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 S. Eighth St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Marcia
Solberg will officiate, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until
the time of service at 11 a.m.
A memorial fund has been established in Arlene's name for the Woodland Dunes
Nature Center or the charity of your choice.
