George Albert Turbett, Jr., 65, formerly of East Vine Street, Des Moines, died Monday, May 2, 1910. Born on November 20, 1846 in Cass Township, Richland County, Ohio, he was the son of the late George, Sr. & Sarah (McGoogan) Turbett. A carpenter by trade, George had also taught school and was a veteran of the Civil War fighting with Company H of the 64th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He is survived by his wife, Abigail D. Turbett, and his 6 children: Effie Linetta Butcher (George A.); Leonard W. Turbett (Irma); Clydie May Ward (Jessie H.); Charles Henry Turbett (Mae); George Harrison "Harry" Turbett, and Albert Roy Turbett; 8 grandchildren: Georgia Mary Sandberg (William); Charles, Everett, and Floy Butcher; Lila, George, and Harry Turbett; and Bessie Ward. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Lydia Jane Davis, in 1905; an infant daughter, Faye, in 1887; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Des Moines.
