Mrs. Julius Toebe of 719 N. 10th St., Manitowoc, died of a heart
attack at her home Monday noon, exactly a year after her husband
had died of a heart attack. Mrs. Toebe, who was 73, had been
working in the garden earlier.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Redeemer Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. Edgar E. Barg officiating. Burial will
be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The former Martha Engel was born at Manitowoc Dec. 29, 1882, daughter
of the late Carl and Fredrika Schrader Engel. She attended the First
German Evangelical Lutheran School and in 1901 was married to Julius
Toebe. The couple celebrated the golden wedding anniversary of its
wedding in 1951. Mr. Toebe was employed at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding
Inc., until his retirement in 1947. Mrs. Toebe was a member of the
Ladies Aid Society of the church.
Surviving her are a son, Arthur of Manitowoc; four daughters, Mrs.
Herbert Schroeder of Rt. 4, Manitowoc, Miss Anita Toebe of Manitowoc,
Mrs. Gerald Napieczinski of Rt. 5, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Norman Krueger
of Green Bay; a brother Alberty Engel of Manitowoc; four sisters, Mrs.
Bertha Doetsch of Marquette, Mich., Miss Alvina Engel and Mrs. John
Beatka of Manitowoc and Mrs. Henry Bordner of Detroit, Mich., eight
grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, until
11 a.m. Wednesday when the casket will be moved to the church where
the body will lie in state until the hour of service.
