Member of the Tennessee House of Representatives serving in the 13th General Assembly and representing Bedford County. John was he son of George and Frances Tillman. He married Rachel Povall Martin on January 17, 1810 in Bedford County. and they had several children; Sarah C., Mary Huff, Rachel M., Lewis, John, Martha E., Barclay Martin, Mary Ann, Abram Martin, and Lucy R. M. Tillman. John Tillman was an early settler Bedford County and was a farmer and operated a cotton gin. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
