Graveside funeral services for Maurice Thompson, 67, of Baltimore, Md., a former
Manitowoc resident who died Friday, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Schmitz will officiate. Military rites will
be conducted by Drews-Bleser Post 88, of the American Legion. Jens Funeral Home,
Manitowoc, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Nov. 22, 1896 at Newcastle, England, son of Nixon and Jane Weatherby
Thompson. He was a World War I veteran of the English Army and came to the United
States in 1925. He was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., Toledo, Ohio, and
Baltimore. He married the former Alice Schroeder of Manitowoc in 1929 and they
moved to Baltimore in 1941.
Surviving are the wife, three daughters, Mrs. John Singletory, of Louisville, Ky.,
Jane of Paris, France, and Ruth, of Baltimore and two grandchildren.
