METTER - Charles J. Thain, age 87, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Agrace Hospice Care, Fitchburg, Wisconsin.
Charles was born in Metter, Georgia, the son of Charles and Ella (Bessinger) Thain, Sr. When Charles was young, his parents passed away and he went to live with his aunt and uncle, Lewie and Terah Thain, who raised him.
Charles became a servant unto the Lord in 1947 serving in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi and finally Wisconsin.
He is survived by his brother, Willie Harold Thain; sister-in-law, Alice Thain both of Metter; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nellie, Emmaline and Mary, sister Pearl Taylor; his aunt and uncle; brother, Mendes Thain; and sister-in-law, Louise Thain; brother, Benny Thain; and sister, Lucille Colson.
Funeral services in Wisconsin were held on Saturday, 3:00 p.m., at the WISCONSIN DELLS CONVENTION.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 18th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with visitation 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the Thain Family Cemetery.
