Edith M. Tate, 93, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, April 28, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mrs. Tate was born at Newport, Va. on April 27, 1901, a daughter of the late Charles Thomas Martin and Mila Lugar Martin. She was a retired school teacher in the Montgomery County, Va. school system and also in Dade County, Fla.; her husband, Charles V. Tate preceded her in death. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, C. Thomas and Frances S. Tate, Blacksburg; three grandchildren, James Tate, Blacksburg, Charlotte T. Bland and husband, Ken, Greensboro, N.C., C. Thomas Tate II and wife, Nancy, Binghamton, N. Y.; three great-grandchildren, Amy R. Bland, Tommy and Megan Tate. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 1994, at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Herbert Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
