Aaron Sylvester Tate is the same person as A.A. Tate. It is known in the Tate family that he hated his middle name, Sylvester, and did not use it. He is my great-great grandfather who was born in DeKalb County, Alabama, moved to Arkansas and then to Comanche County, Texas with his family. It was said that the family lost everything in Alabama due to carpetbaggers after the Civil War. This information was told to my parents by George Robert Tate's wife, Lee Alice. She had a wonderful memory and relayed all kinds of information about the Tate family to my parents on a trip to Abilene in about 1964. I was eight years old and remember going to the local cemeteries with her so that my parents could get pictures and information from the headstones. My mother, Dottie Tate, researched the family back in the 60s and 70s and was able to verify all the information that Lee Alice Tate gave her.
