Sgt. Matthew L. Tallman of Groveland, California. Matthew grew up in San Jose and attended St. Lawrence Academy in Santa Clara before entering the Army. He had served a one year tour in Afghanistan and had just deployed for his second overseas tour to Iraq as a Crew Chief on a UH-60 with the 4-6 Air Calvary Squadron from Fort Lewis, Washington. Matthew was one of 14 soldiers who died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when their helicopter crashed. He is buried at Gate Of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in California and in October of 2008, some of his remains were buried here at Arlington in a group burial of some comingled remains of the 14 crew members.
