Mrs. Elaine R. Tafelski, 65 of 3910 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon, December 24, at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church Chapel, Manitowoc. Pastor Karen Hanson will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Tafelski, nee Elaine R. Strom, was born May 23, 1920, at Frankfort, Michigan, daughter of the late Ragnar and Ellen Stolson Strom. She married Andrew J. Tafelski on August 26, 1946, at Bowling Green, Ohio. The couple moved to Manitowoc in 1949 and had owned and operated Andy's Bar, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Tafelski also had been employed at Aluminum Specialty Company. Her husband preceded her in death on May 31, 1974. Mrs. Tafelski was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary and First Lutheran Church. Survivors include a son, Andrew Tafelski of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Ronald Gagnon of Two Rivers; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Sue Strom of Frankfort, Michigan, Ivar and Eloise Strom of Battle Creek, Michigan, Arnold and Dorothy Strom of Hayward, California, John and Carol Strom of Columbia, Missouri, and Ole and Vera Strom of Traverse City, Michigan; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Borghild Strom of Traverse City, Joan and Ron Alpers of Traverse City, and Adele and Gordon Sandborg of Frankfort, Michigan; and a granddaughter Lisa Ellen Gagnon. She was preceded in death by a brother Reynold. Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Thursday and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. to the time of services.
