Joseph Tadych Sr., 69, died at his home, 1509 Clark street, today just six weeks after his
wife passed away. His death followed a lingering illness.
He was born on July 17, 1874 in Poland, and at the age of 18 settled in Canada. Three years
later he moved to Two Rivers where he married Anna Monka. The following year they settled in
this city.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei
funeral home, and at 9 o'clock from the Sacred Heart Catholic church in charge of the Rev.
Louis Schorn. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Surviving Mr. Tadych are nine daughters, Mrs. Nels Olson, Mrs. Julia Waegli, Mrs. Del Biebe,
Mrs. Leonard Bashaw, Mrs. Steve Kakuk and Miss Elizabeth Tadych of this city; Mrs. Louis
Lewandowski of Green Bay; Mrs. Emma Rohl, Two Rivers, route 2; and Mrs. Clarence Wellner,
Manitowoc Rapids; five sons, Joseph Jr., Paul, William and Clarence of this city and Alois,
stationed at a naval station in Virginia. Sixty-six grandchildren and 8 grandchildren also
survive.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home Monday morning at 10 o'clock until the time
of the services. The rosary will be recited Monday at 8:15 p.m.

The Tadychs had a son, Pvt. Chester Tadych, who died Jan. 3, 1943 as result of wounds received
in action on the New guinea front on December 21. He had been in service since April 1941. Mrs.
Tadych was the first Gold Star mother in Manitowoc. The Purple Heart decoration awarded to Pvt.
Tadych, was received by his mother on February 24.
Survivors besides nine daughters, five sons, 68 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, are
Mr. Tadych's aged mother and six sisters living in Poland.
