William Swittenberg is buried beside his third wife, Martha Susannah Gallagher. His first wife, Elizabeth Harriet Summer, died in 1848, while they were still living in South Carolina. He and his second wife, Emiline Jane Swindler, moved from South Carolina to Mississippi in about 1855. Emiline died in 1864, and William married Martha in 1866.
