VETERAN
Civil War

James W. Stinson died at 3:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon at his residence, 102 South Twenty-ninth street, after a five days’ illness from double pneumonia. He was born in Clinton county, Indiana, June 8, 1846, but most of his life was spent in Tippecanoe county. He was married twice, his first wife surviving but in short time, after which he united in marriage with Sarah E. Lucas, March 18, 1876. Five children were born to them, four of whom are still living. The deceased was a civil war veteran and served more than two years, participating in a number of important engagements. He had been a member of the Baptist church since childhood. Mr. Stinson was one who lived right because of principles. He was a kind and loving father and husband and possessed the esteem of all who knew him.
