Shirley M. Clements Spivey, age 57 of the Ponderosa Community, Lyons, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in the St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness. She was a native of Telfair County and had lived most of her life in Toombs County. She was a child care provider, a homemaker, a member of the Oasis Church of God and was preceded in death by her mother, Lula Mae Spivey.
Mrs. Spivey is survived by her husband, Bernard Spivey of the Ponderosa Community, one daughter, Tammy Horton of Santa Claus, one son, Dewayne Spivey of Ailey, grandchildren, Matt Spivey, Rebecca and Spencer Horton, and Kelsey and Kailey Spivey, two sisters, Shelia Clements Copeland of the Ponderosa Community, and Sandra Shepherd Nino of Lyons, four brothers, James "Shorty" Clements of Vidalia; William "Bill" Clements of Hazlehurst; Michael "Pee Wee" Clements and Charles Shepherd both of Santa Claus, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 24, 2009, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend John Griffin and Reverend Gilbert Wommack officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Mt. Zion Cemetery near Lyons.
