Mrs. James H. Draughon (Alice Spencer) came to Texarkana with her husband and children in 1873. Her husband had the "Ace of Clubs" House built at 420 Pine Street in Texarkana, Texas in 1885, and their family lived there for two years. According to family information, Alice Draughon was quite sickly. She died in 1892. After her death, James married Anna Northen, introduced to him by his daughter-in-law Lucy Cocke Draughon. (James Draughon, his second wife Anna, and several of Mr. Draughon's children are buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis, TN.) Interestingly, Alice Spencer Draughon is buried next to the William Lowndes Whitaker family plot (looking at the photo of her marker, the Whitaker plot can be seen behind and to the right). W.L. and Dora Whitaker bought the "Ace of Clubs" House from James and Alice Draughon in 1887.
