James R. Gravvat, 60, of 2021 W. Sherman died at 5:30 this morning in Methodist Medical Center, where he was admitted last Friday. He was an electrician 12 years, working out of Local 34 IBEW, of which he was a member. He last worked Aug. 23. A resident of the Sherman address three years, he was born Oct. 5, 1915 in Menard County, a son of David and Mattie Underwood Gravvat. He married Virginia Clemmer in Peoria on June 19, 1971. Surviving are his wife, his mother of Washington, Iowa, one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Ringness, Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Harold of Mattoon and Charles of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his father, and one brother, Cecil. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Endsley & Son Funeral Home, 1125 Main, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The Rev. Don Weber of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate, and burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
