Milton, known as "M", was born in the Leagueville Community. He is likely a namesake of an uncle, Milton Smith. The name was carried on to his son also. He taught school in Martin Springs and near the Aley Community. He also ran a general store in Martin Springs and at Frankston, where he lived at his death. His third wife, Leona, survived him.

Funeral services for Milton M. Smith, 86, of Frankston were held Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Frankston.
The Rev. Louie Barron conducted the services and burial was in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Chandler under the direction of the Renfro Elliot Funeral Home of Jacksonville.
Mr. Smith, a native of Henderson County, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired grocer and had lived at Frankston for 30 years.
Survivors are three sons, Leonard Smith of California, G. A. Smith of Tyler and Clarence Smith of Dallas; four daughters, Mrs. Jerry McDonald of Frankston, Mrs. Jack Weesner of Tyler, Mrs. Rudolph Parker of Dallas and Mrs. Abbie Werkhoven of California; one sister, Mrs. G. W. Adair of Murchison and several grandchildren.
Grandsons were pallbearers.
