James Leamon Smith, 82, passed away on Feb. 28, 2004, in Sun City West. James was born in Bearden, Okla., July 12, 1921, to Osmer P. and Janie Belle Smith. He worked in Castle Hot Springs as the ranch foreman for the Castle Hot Springs Resort.
He is survived by his wife Deborah Smith of Wickenburg; three daughters Donna Love, Lana (Jim) Looper, Shauna (Dean) Handley of Prescott; two sons James L. (Yvonne) Smith, Jr., Jeryl L. Smith of Phoenix; four stepchildren Jim (Cherol) Miller, Melissa (Chris) Black, Christina ( Chad) Brewer, William (Keri) Miller; one sister Sylvia Benigar, Camp Verde; three brothers Denver Smith, Willits, Calif., Pete Smith, Longview, Texas, Derrill Smith, Phoenix; 13 grandchildren. Staci Monreal, Garry Cook, Jimmy Looper, Tammy Mickelson, Kasey Looper, Russell, Brian, Heather and Aaron Smith, Jesse and Georgia Smith, Dawn Shivers and Shaun Handley; 13 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held March 4, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Pastor Robert Smith will officiate along with the United States Army Honor Guard.
