Mr. Billy Joe Smith, Sr., 77, of Mountain View, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013. He was born November 2, 1935 in Newport, the son of Sebern Jake and Martha Josephine (Turner) Smith.
Mr. Smith was retired from Victor Metals and was a member of Arbanna Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, loved working, and was always busy.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Sebern Eugene Smith and Jerry Franklin Smith; two sisters, Bernice Kendrick Mitts and Betty Lois Smith; one grandson, Danny Solomon, II, and one great-grandson, Ethan Arron Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Elwanda (Westerfield) Smith; three sons, Bill Joe Smith, Jr., and wife Martha of Tuckerman, Ralph Scott Smith and wife Kathy of Newport, and Justin Smith of Mt. View; two daughters, Sandra Denese Schultz and husband Alvin of Orlando, Florida, and Joann Mullins and husband Albert of Newport; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Friday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Watson Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers are Kris Smith, Daniel Smith, Ash Smith, Cory Smith, Trent Mullins, and Chad Mullins. Honorary pallbearers are John James, Noah Smith, Jeremy Martin, and Mt. View Home Health Employees.
