Grace Geneva Slye Baugher,79, of Elkton, died Thursday, September 28, 1995, at Sunnyside Presbyterian Home in Harrisonburg. She had been a resident there since June 29.
She was born January 19, 1916, in Rockingham County, near Elkton, and was the daughter of the late Charles Corbin and Nannie Dearing Slye.
She was employed at Elkton High School, and the Elkton IGA for a number of years, prior to retirement. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir and served as treasurer for the Women's Society World Service (United Methodist Women). She was also active in the church's nursing home ministry, and was a former lay leader for the church.
On February 17, 1934, she married Russell Samuel Baugher, who preceded her in death on December 8, 1963.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Wayne Baugher, Manassas, and Rodney Russell Baugher, Elkton; two daughters, Brenda B. Keyes and Victoria B. Hensley, both of Elkton; three brothers, Louis Slye, Elkton, Kenneth Slye, Goldsboro, NC and Charles Slye, Stanley; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm Saturday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the home of her daughter, Brenda, at anytime.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm, at the Elkton Evangelical United Methodist Church. The Revs. Milton Marks and Donald Fridinger will conduct the service. A private burial at Elk Run Cemetery will precede the service.
