He was an accomplished Composer, musician, classical Violinist, organist, music editor, and music arranger. His most successful composition was "Once In Awhile" (lyrics by Bud Green), made famous in 1937 by Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra. It held the number one position on the charts for 7 weeks in 1937(a total of 14 weeks).

The song also made the charts with:
