Thomas Louis Sloan, Omaha Tribe, was one of the six original founders of the Society of American Indians in Columbus, Ohio, established in 1911 as the first national Indian rights organization developed and run by Indians themselves. Earlier in his career he argued a case before the United States Supreme Court titled John M. Sloan v. United States (1904) 193 U.S. 614. This, and other cases, involved Indian rights. He was admitted to the California State Bar, as member number 5884, in July 1926.
