Peter Sievers Dies At Home

 

Resident of Wayne County Thirtyfour Years, Passes After a Year's Illness.

 

Rites On Saturday

 

Funeral Will Be Held at Home and At Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wayne.

 

Peter Sievers, who suffered a stroke of apoplexy a year ago and who had been ill the past few weeks with pneumonia, passed away at his home seven and one-half miles southeast of Wayne Monday evening, September, 10, at 10 o'clock, aged 72 years, 8 months and 8 days. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the home and at 2 o'clock from the Evangelical Lutheran church in Wayne with Rev. William Fischer and Rev. H. A.Teckhaus in charge. Interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery.

 

Mr. Sievers was born January 7, 1856, at Kropp, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He came to America in 1874 and resided at Clinton, Iowa, four years. He moved to Saunders county, Neb., and there married Miss Emma Petz on June 12, 1888. The family stayed in Saunders county until the spring of 1894, when they moved to their present home near Wayne.

 

Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Sievers, two dying in infancy. Besides his wife, Mr. Sievers leaves the following daughters and sons: Mrs. Otto Niemann of Winside, Mrs. William Vahlkamp of near Wayne, Miss Therese Sievers at home, Carl Sievers of Wakefield, Herman J. Sievers of Pender, Wilhelm Sievers of Lancaster, Calif., John Sievers and Otto Sievers, at home, and Rudolph Sievers of Wayne.  There are three daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law and twelve grandchildren. All are here for the funeral.

 

Mr. Sievers was a man of high ideals and and industrious and successful farmer.  He was esteemed by his many friends.
