Shull, George Harrison: Botanist. Son of Harrison and Catharine (Ryman) Shull; born in Clarke Co., Ohio, April 15, 1874. Has been in charge of botanical investigations sta. for Exptl. Evolution Carnegie Instn. of Washington, Cold Spring Harbor, L. I., since 1904; detailed to make a study of the scientific aspect of Luther Burbank's work, Santa Rosa, Cal., since 1905. Member of Royal Hort. Soc. (London), Deutsche Botanische Gesellschaft, Ass'n International des Botanistes (Leiden), Torrey Bot. Club, Bot. Soc. America, Am. Breeders' Ass'n (life), Sigma XI, Am. Geog. Soc.; fellow A.A.A.S.
Lecturer and author of papers on variation, heredity and plant breeding. Graduated from Antioch Coll. with a degree B.S.; Ph.D. (Botany and zoology) Univ. of Chicago, 1904.
Married July 8, 1906 to Miss Ella Amanda Hollar of Bushnell, Ill., remarried Aug. 26, 1909, to Miss Mary J. Nicholl, of Brooklyn , N.Y. Bot. Ass't U.S. Nat. Mus., 1902; bot. expert U.S. Bureau Plant Industry, 1902-04. Addresses: Cold Spring Harbor, L. I., N. Y., and Santa Rosa, Cal. U.S.A."
