Freda Darlene Shinn, 77, of Ames, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the Israel Family Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 30 at 1 amnm at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames with Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek officiating.
Freda Shinn was born June 16, 1931 in rural Madison County, Iowa to Dana and Florence (Fox) Gilbert. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1949. She married Ted Shinn on June 19, 1955. Freda and Ted lived in Greenfield for several years and then moved to Ames in 1965 where she was employed by Sundstrand (Sauer-Danfoss) for 20 years, retiring in 1993.
She loved spending time with her family, cooking and sewing. She was an avid Iowa State fan and always cheered on the Cyclones'.
She is survived byt two daughters, Peggy Shinn and Sandy (Keith) Sisson, of Urbandale and Nicole Sisson of Ames; three sisters, Francis Baier of Clarinda, Velma Siglin of Woodward, and Verna Mae (Bill) Ferguson of Greenfield; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ted in 2001.
Memorials may be directed to the family. A donation will be made to the Israel Family Hospice House in Freda's name.
Stevens Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
