Professional Basketball Player, Coach. For fourteen seasons (1946 to 1960), he played at the the guard and forward positions in the National Basketball League and National Basketball Association with the Toledo Jeeps, Baltimore Bullets and Syracuse Nationals. Born Paul Norman Seymour, he attended Woodward High School in Toledo, Ohio and played collegiate basketball at the University of Toledo. He began his professional career with his hometown team, the Jeeps of the NBL and during the course of his career would establish himself as one of the NBA's most durable player. He was a key contributor to the 1954-1955 NBA Champion Syracuse Nationals' squad. During the 1953 postseason run, he set a record of 67 minutes played in a four overtime contest on March 21st, 1953 against the Boston Celtics. The record which he shares with teammate Red Rocha (who also played 67 minutes in the same game) to date remains unsurpassed. In 622 regular season games, he compiled 5,836 points and earned All-Star status three-times (1953 to 1955). From 1957 until 1960, he served as player-coach with Syracuse and had coaching stints with the St. Louis Hawks (1960 to 1962), Baltimore Bullets (1965 to 1966) and Detroit Pistons (1968 to 1969). He died from heart failure.
