"Gus Schroeder Dies Suddenly"
"Rites, 2:00 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church"

The death at 6:45 Wednesday evening of Gus Schroeder, a Richmond mechanic,
came as a shock to relatives and friends for apparently he was recovering
nicely from an operation which he underwent more than two weeks ago. He
had returned to his home at 527 W. Main St., Saturday and on Wednesday
afternoon had been visited by his physician who said he was doing all right.
Only a few minutes after his wife had chattered with him in his room,
she returned to find him dead, death resulting from a heart attack, although
he was never known to have had a heart ailment.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the Richmond
Baptist Church, the Rev. Phil Williams, assisted by the Rev. John Crutchfield,
officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the
Carter Funeral Home.
August F. Schroeder was born Feb. 27, 1894 at Norborne, the son of Henry
Christian Schroeder of Germany and Carrie (Theener) Schroeder of Illinois.
He lived in Ray County for approximately 27 years. For the past four years
he had operated his own mechanic shop at his home, and prior to that had been
a mechanic for Davis and Child of Richmond. He was married to Miss Juanita
Swafford of Rayville on July 29, 1939.
He is survived by his wife of the home and one son, Robert August (Bobby)
Schroeder, 13 years old, also of the home; one sister, Mrs. Anna Henks,
St. John, Kan.; three brothers, Chris Schroeder, Louis Schroeder, Odessa, Mo;
Amil Schroeder, Freeman, Mo.
The body will be taken from the Carter Fumeral Home to the family home,
West Main St., at 7:00
tonite (Thursday).
