Rites Friday for Pioneer Resident

Funeral services for Roy Sayre will be conducted in the Wickenburg Chapel at 11 a. m. today (Friday) by the Rev. James Wilson. Mr. Sayre a pioneer resident of Wickenburg who had lived in Skull Valley for the past two years, died in a Prescott hospital Wednesday morning. Burial will be in the Wickenburg Cemetery.

Mr. Sayre was born in Colorado April 7, 1882, and moved to Wickenburg with his parents when he was 14 years old. The family first lived in a house at the corner of Tegner and Yavapai Streets where St. Anthony's Catholic Church is now located The father died in 1912 [sic 1917] and his is the oldest marked grave in Wickenburg Cemetery.

Sayre Rites Were Held Last Friday

Funeral services for Roy Sayre were held in the Wickenburg Chapel last Friday. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Sayre, 80, of Skull Valley, formerly of Wickenburg, died in a Prescott hospital December 20.

Mr. Sayre was a miner and lived and worked throughout the state at various times. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Nadine Buckingham of Great Falls, Mont.; two sons, Pat Sayre of Skull Valley and Leroy Sayre of Santa Ana, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Dunn of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. Charles Rouse of LaPuente, Calif., and eight grandchildren.
