Flaymon was survived by his sons, Flaymon Sandoval III of Chimayo and Daniel Montoya of Chimayo; daughter Autumn Jadelinda Sandoval of Picuris; mother of his daughter, Barbara Shemayme; sisters Tamy Sisneros and Sunee Sandoval; mother Minnie Quintana of San Pedro; father Flaymon Sandoval Sr. of Truchas; companion Angela Vargas of Española; brother Antonio Alberto of San Pedro and numerous other relatives and friends.
Flaymon served two terms in the US Army, both at Fort Knox, Kentucky. His first term was with the 12th Cavalry during the last years of the Cold War and his second term was with the 10th Cavalry as a Specialist 4 (E-4) during the Persian Gulf War. Between these terms, he was active with the New Mexico National Guard. At Fort Knox, Kentucky; Flaymon was a Cavalry Scout and decorated as an expert with M-16 and M-60 machineguns and with grenades. He was also awarded with five Army Achievement Medals, a Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal for his service during the Persian Gulf War. Flaymon liked hunting and fishing in the great outdoors and was a gold prospector. He loved his family dearly and will be missed.
Funeral service was held on August 10, 2011 at The Rock Christian Church in Española. His cousin Rev. Peter Quintana contributed to the service. Burial of his cremains followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers: Jerry Ortega, Ron "Howard" Salazar, Ben War, Tamara Martinez, Ricky Lee Martinez and Eric Gonzales.
