Albert D. Sallee, 83, of Saybrook died at 5:37 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 20, 2002) at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City.
He was born Jan. 2, 1919 in Campbellsville, Kentucky, a son of W.A. and Maude Miller Sallee. He married Gwendolyn Wallis on July 1, 1944 in Bellflower. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William J. (Connie) Sallee and Stephen A. (Tamara) Sallee; one daughter, Susan E. Baxley; one brother, Robert (Bessie) Sallee; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Ricky David Sallee; one son-in-law, Michael T. Baxley; seven brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Sallee was the youngest of 12 children. He was a farmer in the Saybrook and Bellflower areas for 44 years, retiring in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army Special Services from June 1941 to October 1945. He served over three years in Alaska during World War II.
He was a member of the Bellflower Christian Church Disciples of Christ, where he was an honorary deacon. He was an active member of the Saybrook American Legion David Humphrey Daniel Post 427 for 56 years.
