Birth: Oct. 10, 1833
Death: Jul. 13, 1920

Mrs. Nancy Russell, 87 years old, was trampled to death by an enraged cow early Tuesday morning, July 13, at her home in Stockwell. She made her home with her son, Frank Russell, who is a well known Stockwell farmer, and about six oíclock Tuesday morning Mr. Russell drove the cow and her two day old calf into the barn lot and departed to search of a veterinarian to examine the young animal. While he was absent, his aged mother went into the lot and, as she entered, the cow lunged at her and knocked her down. On account of her feebleness, Mrs. Russell was unable to arise and the cow jumped upon her prostrate form and trampled her until life was almost extinct. The unfortunate womanís screams attracted the attention of Mr. Russellís wife and she appeared on the scene several minutes later. At that time the cow had ceased its attacks and had returned to the barn. The tragic accident happened within five minutes after the sonís departure and it is not believed the cowís attack continued more than a few minutes.
