Viola E. (Pleuss) Rusch, age 96, of 2902 Madson Road, Manitowoc, passed away on Dec. 31, 2010, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.
Viola was born on January 28, 1914, in Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Schrank) Pleuss. On June 10, 1939, she was married to Norbert J. Rusch at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Newtonburg. She farmed with her husband until their retirement. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church,
a past member of the Ladies Aid and a 50-plus year member of the Manitowoc County Extension Homemakers. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. In her later years, Viola enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viola was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years: Norbert who passed away on Dec. 29, 2004; her parents; five brothers: Norman, Harvey, Erwin, Henry and Raymond Pleuss; seven sisters; Linda Vogt, Erna Haupt, Elsie Grossheusch, Anna Baryenbruch, Irene Baryenbruch, Bernice Kreil, and an infant sister; eight brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; and a very special nephew: Frederick Haupt.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Liberty. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Gregory Pope. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc,
is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
Viola's family would especially like to thank (private), a special niece, who frequently visited Viola...whose treats, kind words and warm heart always brightened Viola's day. Appreciation would also like to be extended to the many relatives and friends who lovingly helped Viola with companionship and/or transportation after Nobert passed away.
The family would also like to thank the staff at River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center for ther compassionate care, courtesy and respect displayed toward Viola during her last two years with them.
