Following an illness of several months' duration, Walter Runkle died yesterday morning at his home in Colburn from tuberculosis. He was born January 31, 1840, and was married to Elizabeth McQuate in 1864. The wife died in 1879. Mr. Runkle was married the second time to Mrs. George Hill in 1894. For many years Mr. Runkle was supervisor in Washington township and he had a wide acquaintance throughout the county. He was a member of the Lutheran church, of Colburn and was held in high regard by all who knew him. Besides the widow he leaves the following children: Mrs. Peter Kauffman, of Delphi; Samuel Runkle, of Colorado, and James and Charles of Colburn. The following brothers and sisters also survive: James Runkle, of Americus; Mrs. Anna Wallace, of Lafayette, and Miss Jennie Wolf, of Colburn. The funeral will be held from the Lutheran church to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock Rev. Parker Conrad will officiate with interment in the Lutheran cemetery.
