Marvel D. Roen, 82, of Blue River, died on Wednesday, August. 29, 1990, in the Memorial Hospital in Boscobel.
Mr. Roen was born on July 25, 1908, in Hickory Grove Township, Grant County, the son of Albert and Caroline (Romanek) Roen. He was married to Lola O. Beran on Oct. 5, 1932, in the Blue River Valley Church. He farmed in Watterstown Township, Grant County, for many years, moving to Blue River in 1974. He served as the assessor for Watterstown Township, and served on the Blue River School Board. He was a member of the Blue River Valley Church. He had helped to organize the Blue River Fair Assn., and was a 4-H leader for years.
Survivors include his wife, Lola O. Roen of Blue River; a daughter, Carol (Mason) Zajicek of Lake Mills; three sons, Melvin (Darlene) Roen, Neil (Linda) Roen, and Albert Roen, all of Blue River; a special nephew, David (Pat) Roen of rural Boscobel; 10 grandchildren, Melvin Jr. (Marie) Roen, Matthew (Michelle) Roen, Terri (Kevin) Phillips, Mark Roen, Michael Roen, Marvel Roen, Jeffrey (Kris) Zajicek, Ammy Zajicek, Chriss Roen and Marissa Roen; six great-grandchildren, Chris Roen, David Roen, Jonathan Roen, Elizabeth Roen, Mitchel Phillips and Nikkita Zajicek; two special grandnephews, Ricky and Robert Roen; a special grandniece, DeAnna Roen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. in the Blue River Valley Church, rural Muscoda. Reverend Charles E. Pedersen officiated with burial in the Blue River Cemetery. Godager Funeral Home in Blue River was in charge of arrangements.
