Mrs. Eliza Jane Richardson, 91, one of Fairfield's oldest residents and last Civil war widow in that borough, died Thursday at 5:30 at her home there, leaving 211 living direct descendants. Complications caused death after an illness of about six weeks.
Mrs. Richardson was a daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Wills Anderson and was a lifelong resident of Adams County. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church of Fairfield, and of the missionary society of the church. She was the widow of William Richardson, a Civil war veteran, who died a number of years ago.
Her survivors include nine children, 70 grandchildren, 120 great grandchildren and
12 great-great grandchildren.
The children are; Mrs. John Reese, Cornelius and Edward, all of Fairfield RD; Mrs. Marion Sanders, Littlestown; Harry, Gettysburg RD; Marshall, Hagerstown; Armor, Waynesboro, and
Mrs. Cleveland Seiferd and Mrs. Jennie McCleaf, Fairfield.
Funeral services Sunday at 2:00 at the Zion Lutheran church in Fairfield with the
Rev. Emmert G Colestock, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Eliza Myers, Gettysburg.
Interment in the Union cemetery at Fairfield.
